Canon today announced a new milestone and a new DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) flagship camera. The milestone is 50 million film and digital EOS-series cameras made and shipped, while the new product is the EOS-1D X.
Set for a late march 2012 arrival, the EOS-1D X features an 18.1-megapixel 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor, dual DIGIC 5+ processors, a 3.2-inch LCD screen, 1080p video recoring chops, an ISO sensitivity range going from ISO 100 to 51200, a 100,000-pixel RGB metering sensor, 61-point AF, a dust-removing system that incorporates two vibrating elements, the EOS iTR AF (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition Auto Focus) function, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
- Update - The EOS-1D X is expected to cost $6,800.
