At the GeForce LAN 6 event in Alameda, California, EVGA had on display one of the three motherboards it has prepared for the launch of the LGA2011 desktop platform, the flagship that is the X79 Classified. Bearing the model number E779, EVGA's Sandy Bridge E-supporting board comes with a black/red color scheme, four (quad channel) DDR3 memory slots, five PCI-Express x16 slots (likely enabling both SLI and CrossFireX setups), two SATA 6.0 Gbps and four SATA 3.0 Gbps ports, PCIe switches (so you can disable PCI slots), and an all-passive cooling solution.
The X79 Classified also packs voltage read points, ten USB 3.0 ports (eight on the back panel, two via a header), Bluetooth, dual Gigabit Ethernet, two eSATA ports, 7.1 channel audio, a debut LED, an EVBot connector (the EVBot will be included in the package), plus Power, Reset and Clear CMOS buttons. The board's price tag was not announced but you can bet it will be far from cheap.
