LG Electronics and T-Mobile have now taken the veil off the DoublePlay, an Android (2.3) smartphone which is claimed to deliver 'twice the texting and social networking capabilities' thanks to its dual-display/hardware keyboard combination.
Reportedly set for a November arrival, the DoublePlay features a split QWERTY keyboard, a main, 3.5-inch touchscreen, a second display (2.0-inch), a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash (enabling 720p video recording).
To give the DoublePlay a big push into the market, LG will be using it for the fifth annual US National Texting Championship which is set to determine the fastest thumbs in the country. At the event, 13 contestants will go all-out on the DoublePlay, with one set to win a $50,000 cash prize. In the mean time, we're waiting on T-Mobile and LG to mention the DoublePlay's actual release date and pricing
